The Jilting of Granny Weatherall
Although we aren't appreised of the cart driver's actual identity, we can infer that the cart driver is death itself. Granny doesn't speak of this man until she is close to dying. She climbs into the cart willingly, although, she cannot see the man's face. She does, however, see his hands and recognizes them, then she focuses her eyes of the road ahead of her. Their destination...... likely the final destination.
