How does Jurgis find Marija? How does this event compromise Sinclair's naturalist intent?

Jurgis finds Marija working in a a brothel. It's pretty difficult to consider Marija's plight as merely one of Sinclair's objective events. She is in a brothel because she is forced to make money. That's tough to accept.
