I wouldn't say that Ona's ethics are in question here. I believe it would be her morals.... not ethics, and no...... we are not any of us in a position to judge the actions of others. Ona did what she felt was necessary to go on, and her husband fully believed he had the right to defend his wife's honor. We'd all like to think we'd react differently if we were put in Jurgis' position, but I don't think it's possible to say without experiencing what he experienced. The answer to this question will have to come from your feelings...... dig deep....... what would you do?
