What are Jurgis's opinions about the union?

Jurgis joins the union because he doesn't want to share in the life his family lives...... he wants to make it better. Unfortunately, once in the union, he begins to see that it is based on political corruption, and that bribery is the one thing in Packingtown that gets things done.
