There are many themes in this novel. You can consider themes of redemption, father and son relationships, national strife and personal lives.... I find the themes of redemption most interesting. Earlier in the novel Amir strives to redeem himself for the death of his other; his mother had died during his birth. To redeem himself, especially to Baba, Amir becomes a kite runner. Amir also spends much of the novel trying to redeem himself to Hassan. Early in the novel his friend is raped by a local bully and Amir does nothing. Intersecting themes of redemption weave themselves throughout Amir`s journey in the Kite Runner.
