who is hassan? describe him physically? what is a cleft lip?

Hassan is in the beggining Amir (boy of the house) servant. Near the end of the novel we find that hassan is actually Amir's half brother. A very clear descriptin of hassan is given on in the first 3 pages of the second chapter of the kite runner. I wouldn't be able to describe him any better than that. You must understand that hassan is a hazara. This means that he looks slightly asian. The fact that he is a shi'a Muslim is a diffrent fact altogether. It just so happens that most hazaras were shia Muslims.you will need to brush up on religion and the background to understand the novel. A cleft lip is a difformaty of birth its were the lip hang down slightly or looks like its been pulled off slightly. It can be fixed with surgery in most cases.

I hope this answersa the question, I'm only reading the novel for my leaving cert and this is what I make of what I've red and my understanding of it so far. Please correct me if I'm wrong (I made a lot of spelling mistakes)
