Patrick Maloney is a static antagonist who betrays his lovely housewife and his unborn child. Patrick's wife Mary Maloney was 6 months pregnant when Patrick Maloney implied that he was leaving. Patrick Maloney was at work while his wife was a home awaiting his arrival. By Patrick leaving Mary Maloney and their unborn child he also betrayed them. Therefore, the examples provided show how Patrick Maloney sets the theme of betrayal.
