How did tarry town get it's name

The housewives in a neighboring county gave the town its name because their husbands spent a great amount of time "tarrying" in the town pub on market days.

This name was given by the good housewives of the adjacent country from the inveterate propensity of their husbands to linger about the village tavern on market days.
