Is Hans Van Ripper well rounded or flat?

Hans Van Ripper is a choleric old farmer who is housing Ichabod Crane at the time of the Van Tassels’ party. He lends Ichabod the horse on that fateful night. That is pretty much all we know about him: he is a pretty flat character.
