why does true son object to being returned to his white family

True Son has been living with the Cuyloga tribe for as long as he can remember. Growing-up within the tribe has instilled tribal beliefs. He does not see himself as white, he sees himself as a part of the Cuyloga. True Son sees the white men as his enemies.
