The White Witch is rather scary and cold. She also has a wand: she looked like she was going to do something bad to him with it. Edmund responds that he is a boy, and also a human. The White Witch angrily raises her wand, but then appears to suddenly change her mind, and tells him to sit down beside her. Edmund is disquieted by the encounter, but when the "Queen of Narnia" uses her wand to give him something warm and delicious to drink, and then asks him what his favorite thing to eat is, Edmund begins to feel more comfortable.
