The nondescript town has a population of approximately three hundred people. It is a farming town. We get a small farm town feel with most people knowing everybody else. There is banter about crops, children, and crop prices. The conversations seem friendly but Jackson infuses the narrative with a tone of uneasiness. Initially the friendly meeting throws us off the sinister reality of the situation.
