Looking back at the story, can you see why Tessie Hutchinson was singled out as the “winner”?

Tessie chose the ticket with the black dot......... that made her the winner. In essence, it was a cruel twist of fate. Tessie questioned the lottery from the start, thus, as a character, she is singled out from the start. In the beginning of the story, the author notes that whoever questions the Lottery is a fool, and crazy..... that many strange things are associated with it.
