what is a central conflict in the maze runner?

I think the central conflict is escaping the Maze. W.I.C.K.E.D. has shut the characters within the maze for two years and the Grievers are looking to kill them. The Glade is no longer safe since W.I.C.K.E.D has opened the gates.
