Do you have sympathy for Gregor? Do you have sympathy for his family?

Strictly speaking, it's difficult not to have sympathy for Gregor. His condition only illuminates his role and value in the household. None-the-less, my greatest sympathy for his character came when even Grete turned her back on him. As far as the family, I have no sympathy at all.... they are lazy, depend upon Gregor for all of their needs, treat him poorly, and resent rather than empathize with his condition. Note, these are my opinions, your instructor wants to know what you think.... there is no right or wrong answer.
