Herbert White was killed in an accident at work. He was caught in he machinery and died from his injuries.

The night the sergeant major had come to visit the whites he told them about the monkey's paw. after sergeant major left mr white used the monkey's paw to wish for 200 pounds. the next day herbert went to work and later in the evening an informer from herberts work place informes mr and mrs white hat there son was caught in some machinery and had died. the compensation given by the company was 200 pounds.this is how herbert white died and it was also the first move of the monkey's paw
