Was there dilemma in the story?

In my opinion, the biggest dilemma or moment of suspense occurs when Mrs. White wishes for her son to be brought back to life, and subsequently, the couple hears a knock at their door. Mrs. White is filled with joy, whereas, her husband is filled with dread...... he is horrified!
