Many readers find the ending of Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge powerful, while others argue that the ending is nothing more than a gimmick and cheats the reader. What do you think?

The first time I was assigned this story, I was blown away. I loved it then, and I love it today. I don't think Bierce cheated anyone. If anything, they feel cheated by the fact that the first time through..... we don't guess the ending.
