Rainsford is the character with an internal conflict in "The Most Dangerous Game." He has two choices, he can stay on the island, be hunted, and possibly be killed by Zaroff..... or he can attempt to escape the island by swimming and possibly drown in the attempt. His ultimate decision was to trust his hunting skills above all others, hoping his skills were as good or better than the General's.
