Perseverance can be scene the minute Rainsford falls in the water. He must swim to shore even though he is exhausted. Later, Rainsford must keep his wits about him as Zaroff hunts him. Rainsford has no gun yet must persevere in the dense jungle trying to avoid capture. Even after Rainsford jumps from a cliff, he perseveres to Zaroff's castle for one final showdown.
