The most important conflict in the story, The Most Dangerous Game, is man vs. man..... Rainsford versus Zaroff. When Zaroff challenges Rainsford, “Your brain against mine. Your woodcraft against mine. Your strength and stamina against mine. Outdoor chess! And the stake is not without value, eh?” (p 18)..... the game is on. If Rainsford loses the contest, he will die.
