Why did Monsieur loosely expect his wife to be pleased to receive the information from the Minister of Education?

Madame Loisel was always complaining that she never received invitations to go anywhere.... no reason to dress up, no beautiful clothes, a no invitations to sumptuous dinners. M. Loisel believed his wife would be thrilled by the invitation.... not continue to lament what she didn't have.
