dont understand this..... can anyone help please?!!

Book says:       If ever mortal man inquire how you were put to shame and blinded, tell him Odysseus, raider of cities, took your eye:                       Laertes' son, whose home's on Ithaca!'

Question:    What do these lines tell you about Odysseuss as a character? (IDK)

 What happens in the story as a result of Odyssues' words? (IDK what the words mean (above...)

I think you are referring to when Odysseus blinds the Cyclops. This tells us that Odysseus is proud and brave as well as having an ego. He tells his captor that it is he who blinded him. It turns out that Poseidon, God of the Sea, is the father of the Cyclops Polyphemus. Poseidon tries to get revenge on Odysseus by causing all kinds of havoc with the sea.
