Why must Odysseus stop Telemachos from stringing the bow?
Was there other factors other than the obvious reason of not wanting his wife to marry another man?

I think that Odysseus knows that he needs Telemachus by his side and not as another contender.
He stops his son in order to reinstate his authority as man of the house, all while allowing his son to grow in his own authority.
