Chapter 5 :Was hiding out the best thing for Johnny and Ponyboy to do? Why or why not?

Running away from your problems is never the answer.... had the boys stayed, Johnny would likely have been arrested. He did kill Bob, and there was no question of his guilt. None-the-less, by running away, they gave themselves a bit more time. Cherry declared herself willing to intercede on Johnny's behalf, and unfortunately, the burning of the church made the boys heroes (heroes was a good thing). Had the boys faced what they'd done, Johnny would likely have survived, and the church would never have caught fire. Thus.... I vote they should have turned themselves in.
