That's a pretty broad question. Hinton uses strong references to explore all these themes. There is of course individual identity that is seen through the eyes of Ponyboy. We see this in chapter one when he muses about movies, school and sunsets. This of course sets him a part from the Greaser stereotype yet Hinton asks us to question just how valid these stereotypes are throughout the novel. Like I said, this is more of an essay question but hopefully this gives you something to start with.
