The Outsiders
Note two events that unroll during the first couple paragraphs of chapter 2 to show the greasers don't follow the law
The outsider book.
The outsider book.
I think the two larger events wew the following:
1. Dally steals a pack of Kools "cigerattes" from a drug store.
2. The boys sneak into a drive-in without paying.
In both cases the boys can afford the price, it's really just a matter of principle. They were "hoods" and felt they had to live up to a reputation, "Dally hated to do things the legal way. He liked to show that he didn't care if there was a law or not."
