For what reason do you believe that Ponyboy pays no attention to Dally when he screams " For Pete's sake, get outa there! The roof's gonna cave in any minute. Forget those blasted kids!"

Ponyboy wasn't going to stop what he was doing for anyone. He wanted to save the children. Neither Dally's shouting or the danger could change that.
