After Ponyboy's parents deaths', he went through a difficult time. He fought with his oldest brother, slacked off in school, and became immersed in the gang above all else. After going into hiding, which was preempted by Bob's death and the boys' involvement, the boys save the children in the church. Suddenly the boys are heroes, and just as suddenly, Johnny passes away. Through these trials, Darry and Soda embrace Ponyboy..... they become a family again. Ultimately, Ponyboy has come full circle.
