What happened to Ponyboy, Soda and Darry's parents? Where did they go? How come the boys live with each other instead of with their parents? Together? What do you think?

The boys live together and I don't know what happened to there parents. what happened to them ?

They were killed in a car accident. Darry, the eldest, was allowed custody of the other boys as long as Social Services was happy with the situation.
