What's your own definition of a hero? Do Jhonny, PonyBoy and dallas and prove themselves to be heroes, according to your definition? Explain

I think a hero can mean different things in various contexts. Certainly the boys, Johnny and Ponyboy, didn't think about their own safety as they rushed in to save the kids. In the story they are heroes because they risked their lives for others. Greasers, and kids in general, often think of themselves first but Johnny and Pony rose to the occasion. Dallas can be seen as heroic in a rebellious sense. He is an anti-hero (a tough guy with a sensitive heart) who challenges the establishment and dies in a blaze of gunfire.
