When Ponyboy sees the Socs outside of the grocery store, he doesn't feel angry or scared. He feels zero. Why?

I think that Ponyboy has been through so much that Socs don't scare him anymore. Pony feels too drained to feel anything more. Dally and Johnny are dead: there is nothing more the Socs can do to him.
