Where in the book does it show someone feeling isolated or like an outsider?

THere are so many places where this happens. You might consider the very first chapter when Pony is walking home from the movies. He explains that none of the other guys likes school or the movies like he does. He prefers to go to the movies alone so nobody will harass him. Hew is also the only kid who is really good at school and likes it.
