The Socs were to blame. Randy and Bob came after Pony and Johnny. They were the aggressors.

To blame; Socs. Ponyboy and Johnny were simply minding their own buisness. And later the socs just came to a place that they weren't even suppose to be at and started calling them names, annoying them and jumping them.
