why do you think johhny wasn't scared, depsite the obvious danger?

Johnny is a sensitive boy. He cares for others, especially those that are helpless like the children. This is perhaps because he has felt so helpless in his own childhood. It is also probable their cigarettes started the fire.
I think Johnny wasnt scared because all he was thinking that he started the fire and he had to do someting about it, like get those kids out no matter what, because if something happened to them in the church and it burned down. Knowing kids die partially because of you, he wouldnt be able to live with the guilt.
I think Johnny just thought that this was a way to redeem himself from the eternal guilt that is in you when you kill someone. so he thinks that if he saves this kids he wouldn't feel so bad.

Johnny is very sensitive and helps the people in need like the chilrden in that church.
The fact that he could do something to save the children brought new energy to his life and allowed him to face any danger without fear or worry about himself
