Why does Ponyboy think that Marcia and Cherry are different from one another?

Cherry seems more of an artistic soul than Marcia. Cherry seems sensitive to human nature, the plight of both the Socs and Greasers. Marcia seems nice enough but lacks the depth of thought that Cherry has.
