Describe early childhood for Rameck

Rameck spent most of his childhood living with his mother and grandmother. His grandmother was as much of a mother as his mother.... Rameck called her Ma. Unfortunately, his mother and grandmother didn't get along. His mother was young (seventeen) and unmarried. She had Rameck as a means of finding something to love.... something that was her very own. Arlene (Rameck's mother) blamed her mother for an unhappy childhood, and although she purposely became pregnant..... the baby didn't fulfill her needs, and she turned to drugs. Both of Rameck's parents were into drugs, both were addicts, and his father spent time in jail on drug related charges.

Rameck loved Ma's house in the suburbs. He loved the atmosphere, the people, the action and the laughter. He and his mother often moved, but Arlene always encouraged him to excell in school. They often had no money, people gave him odd jobs to help out..... Rameck's childhood was difficult, but he was loved.
