When did Sam,George,and Rameck feel as though they were caged.

I think that when Rameck went to jail, he felt literally and figuratively caged. All the boys felt caged living in poverty. It was so easy for them to join gangs. Unless they stayed with their oath, they would forever remain caged in their poverty and low social expectations.
