How has the pearl bought change in Kino?

After discovering the pearl, Kino put the pearl above all else..... even his family. He was determined to sell the pearl, collect a large sum of money, and take care of his family.... provide them with everything life had to offer, Unfortunately, Kino was so determined to this that he put himself, his wife, and his child in danger.... Coyotito was killed.... and Kino, with his mind on what the pearl could buy him, never stopped to think about what it might cost him.
