Certainly the Catholic Church had made inroads into the indigenous community. Their belief systems became a mixture of Catholicism as well as ancient beliefs. The Church hence became a focal point of their lives. The Church teachings may have contradicted many of their tribal beliefs but the people were somehow able to blend traditions to make sense of their world.
