We see the author's opinion by the words that he chooses to describe certain events. For example,
And to Kino the secret melody of the maybe pearl broke clear and beautiful, rich and warm and lovely, glowing and gloating and triumphant. - this description uses rich language and builds a picture that could almost be painted. Word choice shows the author's opinion.
"Open it," she said softly. - This choice of words helps build suspense as we wait for Kino to open the oyster to see the pearl. This again shows the author's opinion that this moment is significant and will be important to the rest of the novel.
