KIno wakes in his hut in the early morning he hears the waves of the ocean and in them, "the song of the family". Kino is poor but content and in tune with the rhythms of his life and his natural world.
Also Kino is aman that notices the little things around him. The simple parts of his life content him. Kino looks at the ants on the ground and watches them"with the detachment of God". Unfortunately Kino's world will soon change.
