what are the major problems and their solutions in the book The Perks of Being a Wallflower
The major problems in the book are focused on the difficulties of growing into adulthood throughout high school. Charlie starts as a freshman in high school and experiences the usual traumas that characterize high school life. He tries to fit in with other students; he grieves the death of his best friend (Michael who committed suicide) and his aunt Helen, whom he first idealizes only to find out that she had molested him early in his life. She tries to have a girlfriend (Mary Elizabeth), but he actually loves Sam, one of the seniors who befriended him early on in the story. He is guided by a teacher who gives him much excellent reading material and this teacher encourages him to develop his writing skills. He confronts a friend who is involved in a homosexual relationship; ultimately he ends up overwhelmed by all of the "drama" of high school and has to go to a mental hospital.
