Why you think Charlie is writing letters to a stranger?

Charlie writes his letter to someone he doesn't know. It's almost like keeping a journal, the only difference being that Charlie's letters are written to a real person...... someone he's never met, but someone he's heard of. In these letters, he can unburden his mind and get things off his chest. He can write about the things he cannot talk about. It's a healing tool.
