How would a moral vindication help Henry wear the sore badge of dishonor?

If Henry found that other soldiers ran from battle, which they did, he would feel a moral vindication. Henry would feel like he didn't let his comrades down and that perhaps his wound on the head wasn't so humiliating after all.
