Why do you think Henry and Wilson became and remained such good friends throughout the course of the novel?

Henry and Wilson became friends in the beginning of the novel because they were forced into a stressful situation together. These kinds of situations seem to bring intense bonding. They remained friends because they faced their faults side by side. In a way, being together made them stronger. They also assumed a bravery towards the end of the novel that made them compatible.
