The Red Badge of Courage

why is henry's red badge of courage so ironic?

I need to know why his red badge of courage is so ironic. Please be sure to use quotes from the book.

Henry's red badge is ironic because he did not receive his wound in battle, thus, it was not a badge of courage. In fact, his "wound" was actually aquired while running away from battle.
