How does the mariner describe the movement of the ship as it sails away from the land ?

The mariner is very detailed and vivid about the ship leaving the harbour. The wedding guest is mesmerised by the event. The ship moved South happily enjoying reletively good weather at first,

The ship was cheer'd, the harbour clear'd, Merrily did we drop Below the kirk, below the hill,  Below the lighthouse top.

After the Mariner shoots the albatross, he experiences both shame and guilt. What is the difference between these 2 emotions

The Ship was given a warm send off from the harbour. It went easily by the side of the Church, the hill and the lighthouse. The ship crossed the harbour and soon entered a open sea. As the ship sailed along the ebbying (flowing back) tide, things slowly started becoming foggy. The Church, the hill and the lighthouse were soon lost from view.
