'The Rime of the Ancient Mariner' by Samuel Tayor Coleridge is 143 verses long. Coleridge worked on the poem initially with his friend William Wordsworth, but the task proved too difficult as each poet had different style and viewpoint ideas for the ballad. It was published in 1798.
