The Rime of the Ancient Mariner
How was the albatross avenged?
Rime of the ancient mariner part 2
Rime of the ancient mariner part 2
Nature has its revenge over the death of her albatross. The wind stops and the men waste away from dehydration under the hot sun hence the famous line, “Water, water, everywhere, / Nor any drop to drink." Soon all the men just drop dead and the mariner says, "every soul, it passed me by, Like the whizz of my crossbow!" The Mariner begins a solitary penance until he finally realizes the error of his ways. He wears the albatross around his neck, literally, until Nature is satisfied he has understood that he was a big stupid jerk.
